Fortune Auto 500 Series Coilovers for Honda

Everyday Driveability

We have run the Fortune Auto 500 Series Coilovers on our own racecar for multiple years. While there are definitely more expensive coilovers around, the Fortune Autos are probably one of the best bang for your buck suspension upgrades you can buy. As a result of Fortune Auto’s dedication and research on the racetrack, they have developed a great all-around shock absorber. These hand-built coilovers use high quality components and follow strict standards that allow you to optimize for comfort, reliability, and longevity.

Occasional Track Use

Digressive piston technology allows for stiff low-speed compression/rebound force. This gives more control of driver inputs such as roll, dive, and squat. However, at fast stroke speeds (i.e. high speed bumps) the suspension becomes supple in response to bumps and irregularities in the road for maximum control and comfort.

Generation 7 Upgrade

Generation 7 models benefit from an upgraded jetting assembly. In previous generations the orifice bleed holes were drilled by hand instead of CNC machined. Due to this update, there is more consistent damping adjustments between shocks. Also, a re-designed jetting assembly yields a 35% increase in damping force adjustment. Finally, the machined adjustment knobs are hard anodized, and the shaft end caps are lighter and showcase a more elegant design.  Radial bearings and locking collars are now standard where applicable.

Swift Spring Upgrade

Swift springs offer a noticeable increase in traction, smoother weight transfer, better ride quality, lower tire temperatures, and a more predictable feel. All Swift Springs are manufactured using( H5S.TW.) which is far superior to silicone chrome steel and allows us to wind our springs with less coils, resulting in reduced un-sprung weight and increased stroke.

Hyperco Spring Upgrade

Hyperco springs are designed specifically for light rate / high travel coil-over applications, such as dirt and pavement racing. The design allows for additional deflection, rate linearity, and resistance to bowing.

Features:

  • FA Synthetic Shock Oil
  • Modularity – Upgradeable to 2-Way Canister
  • Aluminum T6 6061 Mounts and Camber Plates
  • Digressive Piston Technology
  • 24 Step Rebound Adjustable Dampers
  • Rebuildable and Revalveable at our VA Facility
  • Custom Built and Dyno Tested
  • Monotube Damper with High Pressure Nitrogen
  • 5 Year Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty

500 Series Coilovers are custom, hand-built to order. Consequently, most applications have a 2-3 week lead time and lead times for certain applications and peak season orders may vary. If you require Custom Spring rates, please contact us to adjust your order.  Standard springs will be used by default.

Model: 92-95 Civic Fortune Auto 500 series (gen 5) Swift Springs 12K front 10k rear
These were hands down the best riding coilovers I’ve ever had. I’ve had Koni/GC, Skunk 2 Pro C and Pro S, Tein Super Streets, PIC, Omni Power, and K Sports. None of them compared. The car rode very comfortably and handled adverse road conditions well. Pot holes and speed bumps were avoided when possible, but these took them just fine. Turn in was sharp, and there was no issues with oversteer with the set up I selected. At low speeds, the car rode smooth. No issues with bounciness or harsh ride. I would definitely recommend the Swift spring upgrade. The car was intended for track use but unfortunately never saw any.
Dealing with Fortune Auto was a pleasure, they were helpful and offered expert advise on how to fine tune your set up. Ravi is the best and will definitely get you the best possible set up for your application.

Great suspension choice for this price segment.

I recently replaced my tired coilovers with a new set of FA 500s on my track car 93 civic. I know these are recommended for “occasional track use” but i decided to give them a try anyway. I had Fortune Auto up the spring rate 1k front and rear from how they normally come, a no additional cost upgrade. One great thing about these shocks is the wide dampening adjustment range can tolerate minor spring rate changes.

The car is very planted through rough sections of track and acts predictable at low and high speed. I highly recommend these for a street car also as the ride quality is very nice, especially for a performance oriented shock.

The very first time I drove on these coilovers I managed a 2nd place finish at Road Atlanta during Global Time Attack 2017. Despite all the new changes to the car, (tires, suspension, power and aero) I quickly felt comfortable enough to push the car right up to the limit. That in itself is a great testament to how these coilovers perform.

I have the Gen 5 500’s with swift 12k front and 14k rear on my 1990 Civic track-only car, my first impression driving around my neighborhood was “I wish I had bought quality suspension years ago.” Never would have thought such a high spring rate would have such great ride quality. My daily driver EF civic with 8k/10k on Koni’s is pretty harsh. (But to be fair, one shock is probably blown and the cars ride height is pretty low)

But overall I couldn’t be more satisfied with these coilovers. I loved the idea of buying something custom tailored to YOUR needs and not just some one size fits all off the shelf part. Plus the ability to upgrade my dampers later on down the road was something I wanted to get in on.

I have had experienced many suspension setups over my last 13 years of track driving/racing, and there simply isn’t a better option available at this price point. The digressive valving allows these coilovera to control both high speed and low speed rebound so much better than other setups I have run. This allows for a softer spring rate which can be beneficial if the car is still driven on the street. With the added option of upgrade ability to a 2 way shock the investment in FA will pay off if the driver decides to go more advanced in their adjustability in the future. On top of that the customer service and available information is unbeatable. I spent a lot of time researching options for my ITR and no other company (excluding Koni) offers as much easily accessible information on how the suspension is not only different but how it works. Highly recommended!!
